BATMAN DEFEATS SUPERMAN in the first ever APRIL’S BATTLE of the CHAMPIONS!

Batman defeats Superman in the very first April’s Battle of the Champions aka ABC!

ABC UPDATE: Batman triumphs over Superman, 84-47

The winner and champion of the first ever annual April’s Battle of the Champions is the Caped Crusader, Batman!

Thanks to the fans, they have pushed Batman several rounds into the final battle against the Last Son of Krypton, Superman. Although much of the chatter on Facebook seemed tame, they spoke with their votes in our daily polls.

A recap: ABC began as a project and event meant to reach out to various fans in the Facebook community. Groups supportive of Marvel, DC, and the overall superhero genre dropped their two cents on their favorite hero or villain – imagining various scenarios that would possibly bring two titans together in battle.

Lou P., Geo C., Joc, and guest nerd Michael Benson each set up battles in their own regions in the spirit of an NCAA Basketball tournament. What started out as an experiment in outreach became a daily event to look forward to. Each morning social media would see who the winner of the previous day’s battle would be and then see what the next match up would have in store.

To our new friends and fans, be on the look out for a possible message from the Everydaynerdpodcast crew about ABC. For now, many thanks to those who participated in this event!

Superman and Batman reach the very final round of April’s Battle of the Champions!

THIS IS IT! The final battle you’ve been waiting for! The Last Son of Krypton vs. The Dark Knight!

• 11 – IRONMAN 13 – BATMAN
53 – SUPERMAN 16 – WONDER WOMAN
• 12 – HULK 14 – IRONMAN (REMATCH)
• 12 – HULK 12 – IRONMAN (TIE)
• 11 – ULTRON 58 – SUPERMAN
Some comments from the latest battles:

“I picked Superman, but Wonder Woman as a warrior would fight to the death…” -Jim B.

“Equal footing here, but unless Diana has Kryptonite handy…Kal-El would win, albeit barely.” -Michael H.

“I’m a hulk fan. Give it up for the green scar. Healing factor and straight savagery. I feel Tony will be to cautious and wont take out the big guns until it’s too late.” -Isaiah R.

“Hulk already beat up Tony!!” -D Jojo

MARTHA! DC REIGNS SUPREME as Batman outmaneuvers Thanos while Wonder Woman proves fan-favorite over Thor!

Blazing into the elite 8 arena after a brief hiatus, Thanos, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Thor battle it out as we begin key battles which will lead up to our final challengers in April’s Battle of the Champions!

In a 26-19 vote by our fans, the Mad Titan, Thanos lays defeated against the Caped Crusader advancing as the first challenger in the fatal final four round of battles.

At first, prospects were not positive for Bruce Wayne as voting reached over the midway point.

“As great as Batman is…kind of hard to go against a guy who can (beat) you with the snap of his fingers,” shares Michael H.

But due to last minute votes from latecomer DC fans, they pushed Batman forward into ABC.

In another dramatic upset, Wonder Woman defeats Thor and reigns as the most powerful princess of the realms, 62-56.

Wesley M. asked, “How can people have Thor beat Steppenwolf and not beat Wonder Woman? Her and Aquaman fought Steppenwolf and still couldn’t beat him!”

Two individuals with immense power sets made this battle suspenseful as anticipation of a tie loomed. But, Themyscira’s Diana wins over the God of Thunder.

This sets up a confrontation with Wonder Woman POTENTIALLY meeting Superman in the fatal final 4…Stay tuned folks. You don’t want to mess what’s next!

Ultron short-circuits Cyborg, 35-28…*YAWN*

In an anticlimactic win over DC’s cyborg, Ultron reigns victorious over Victor Stone during April’s Battle of the Champions.

On Facebook, Dustin B. posted: “Cyborg is pretty much a plot device for Justice League stories. I think (Cyborg) could process everything coming but Ultron is in fact too strong.”

Ultron, reminiscent of another arch-enemy of Superman, Braniac, will soon face the last son of Krypton in the next set of battles.

Wonder Woman, Iron Man advance forward in April’s Battle of Champions!

The Amazonian princess of Themyscira defeated the cosmic-powered Captain Marvel, 63-29 courtesy of the fans voting on Facebook.  Rumblings over Facebook were mild considering both characters are very established, yet relatively new to their mutual movie universes.

Lorenzo J. wrote, “Wonder Woman got more heart, (is) more aggressive, plus more experience. She was born to be a warrior it didn’t happen by accident.”

Playboy philanthropist, Tony Stark aka Iron Man easily defeated Batman villain, Bane to advance into the next round of battles, 88-25.  There was no question that Starktech is simply too overwhelming for physical, albeit chemically-enhanced, superpowers (didn’t we see this fight before in Civil War?)

With that, thank you for voting!  Continue to vote at the Everydaynerdpodcast Facebook page and check daily for the next battles as we come close to a final four bouts of hard-hitting action!

Batman and Hulk enter the winners’ circle!

The Dark Knight rises over the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in April’s Battle of Champions. Debate over spectacular spider-senses and strength versus a wealth of Wayne technology and cunning reined over Facebook.

Cyrus D. posted, “Like Batman is very skilled, but at the end if the day he’s just a man, Spider-Man…dodge Batman’s attacks and just tire him out, so I’m sorry Bats but Spidey’s got this in the bag.”

Adam H. shared, “Batman may be able to get one over on Superman with kryptonite but Spidey doesn’t have a weakness like that. With super abilities and Spidey sense there’s only one winner although Bats wouldn’t go down easily.”

Michael H. posted, “This is the toughest contest…and as much as Spidey is my guy…Batman just has the mindset and resources. He’s also a better tactician. But for heart and the will to do good…I go with ol’ Webhead. But Bats wins…barely.”

Despite much Spidey-support, Batman advances.

Meanwhile, Marvel’s Incredible Hulk, in the narrowest fight to happen in April’s Battle of Champions, defeated Superman’s enemy, Doomsday. What, you say? Hear these rumblings from Facebook debating this battle:

Rod R.: “I’d like to hear the logic on this one. Doomsday’s power levels were off the charts in Dawn of Justice. It took a kryptonite spear to take him down. MCU Hulk is strong but not Kyptonian strong.”

Wesley M.: “Well, it took Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman where they were barely doing anything against him. Not sure people know how powerful Doomsday was in the DC movie.”

Rich F.: “Another weakness to the Hulk is actually fighting ability… if you had two with even strength, fighting skills matter.”

Rod R.: “Don’t forget they hit Doomsday with a nuke and dropped him from sub-orbital heights and he kept on going like it was nothing. The MCU Hulk couldn’t survive a plane crash without reverting back to puny Banner.”

Despite the discussion, the fans have decided: Hulk will ultimately make it to the next round of battles in ABC. This battle was so bloody, it even left a mark on the bracket. Going to need some soda water for that.

The last son of Krypton defeats the Star-Spangled Avenger in April’s Battle of Champions!

Although rigorous discussion was made about power sets, weaknesses, and possible scenarios that would lead two of the greatest heroes from their respective publishers in heated battle, in the end the fans determined the sheer strength of Superman was too much for the “I-can-do-this-all-day” spirit of Captain America.

Wesley M. on Facebook shared: “I’m actually surprised it’s this close (at the time of post, 64% Superman to 36% Captain). Just asked Maddy the same question. She’s shocked at the votes for Captain. Flabbergasted is more her reaction tho.”

Rod R. shared, “To be fair you shouldn’t be able to say if he had kryptonite weapons or Harry Potter’s wand then Cap would have a chance. The vote should be purely based on their powers/skills/abilities/weapons that were observed in the films. Which taking all that into account the Last Son of Krypton wins every time against the First Avenger.”

The temperature level on social media is HEATING UP!

“This is a slaughter,” shares D Jojo Y. on Facebook.

Despite being an invulnerable, military genius from the Fourth World, Steppenwolf could not withstand the voting onslaught from the fans. Thor was crowned victorious during the first round of April’s Battle of Champions.

Steppenwolf has been sent back into a boom tube with a limp and now advances to the next round!

Friends, remember…you decide who wins! Continue voting in our current match-up: Superman vs. Captain America! Voting is now open!
